Literacy:
Please read to you child on a daily basis! Sitting down with a book is awesome, but reading street signs, billboards, labels in stores, anywhere you can find words will help your child read!
Talk about stories. Use the who, what, when, where, why method.
Review letter sounds and names.
Blend these sounds together to make words.
Word families such as "at", "an" help a great deal!
Drawing pictures and talking about the pictures help with comprehension. Make sure to use details!!
Sight words: These are words that can be memorized! If you go to YouTube and type in "Sight Words for Kindergarten", that will bring you to dozens of videos!
Math:
Count to 100 by ones and tens.
Days of the week and months of the year and seasons are time.
Counting objects and asking "how many"
Describe simple shapes (hexagon, triangle, circle, oval, square, rectangle).
Writing numbers from 1 to 20.
Addition:
Knowing that 2 objects and 3 objects are equal to 5 objects; the number sentence will come later.
Subtraction:
Key words are "take away" and "minus" are important. Again, the number sentences will come later.
Fine motor skills:
Holding pencils, scissors
Getting along with one another.
